SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – A man serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Johannesburg, South Africa, died Monday, according to a Church spokesman.

Church Media Relations Manager Daniel Woodruff released a statement Tuesday saying Zane Lamping, 19, of Moapa, Nevada, collapsed while exercising at the South Africa Missionary Training Center in Johannesburg. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

The cause of death is unknown at this time.

He had entered the training center Nov. 22.

“Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones,” Woodruff wrote. “We pray they feel the love of our Heavenly Father during this difficult time.”
